Booty Fat Good – Stomach Fat Bad

It seems that an actual scientific study was conducted to confirm something that I already knew (and tried to convince women about).

Fat on women’s booties is a good thing!

Beyond the obvious reasons why a man would think such things, there is now legitimate back up.

According to the study conducted by University of Oxford and Churchill Hospital, the fat found on women’s bottoms actually works to counteract “diabetes, heart disease , and other conditions associated with obesity”. This is in stark contrast to fat around the midsection that works to promote those very same illnesses.

You can read the article here.

This may have something to do with the difference between subcutaneous fat and visceral fat.

Subcutaneous fat is fat that sits on top of muscle where visceral fat forms around the organs. The difference in placement of the fat has a profound effect on your body. Where subcutaneous fat can be found on healthy people and even high performance athletes (think sumo wrestler), it is the visceral fat that causes most people’s weight related health issues.

When you think about the butt and how densely packed the muscles are in that area, it seems as though the fat back there would be subcutaneous. This last part is just conjecture on my part, of course.
